Main Library First Floor Renovation

Update:

October 1-5, 2007

The final phase of the 1st Floor Renovation is in full swing. The carpet in the new fiction area has been installed with the linoleum to follow this week. The new shelving to allow most of the library’s fiction collection to be browsed by the public is being installed. The re-located information desk area is receiving new limestone and carpet with the glass enclosure and counter beginning to be installed. The new mobile shelving flooring is being finished with installation of the shelves to follow. The security gates for the new AV Center will be placed and the existing ones at the Grove Street entrance will be moved back to leave more distance to the stairs and prevent tripping. A new railing will also be added in the next couple of weeks. Behind the scenes the HVAC work is being completed along with the final electrical and lighting upgrades. The ceilings will be closed and patching & painting will continue. Some of the work this week will be noisy for limited periods of time. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we close in on the end of this project to make more of our collection and services accessible.
