The opening of the renovated 1st Floor is now set for January 16, 2008 at 10am. The contractor is finishing all outstanding items during the next two weeks. The staff is busy moving the fiction from the 3rd Floor compact stacks to a staging area on the 1st Floor to inventory the collection, change the location code in the online catalog, repair if necessary and then shelve in the new Browsing area. All returned fiction is also being integrated into the new shelving along with new titles. Some fiction titles may not be available for about a month due to this move but always remember to check the library’s online catalog the title may be available in one of the branches. The Information Desk in its new location is welcoming patrons and the automated sorting equipment is fully installed and functioning well. The move of the AV Center back to the 1st Floor will happen nearer the opening date. Viewing and listening stations will not be available until the end of January.
