The first half of the former Technical Services area will be finished this week. Carpet and linoleum installation is being completed and new paint is being applied to all areas. New workstations and privacy walls for staff will be set up this week. New electrical, data, HVAC and fire systems work is complete in the ceiling with new acoustical tile being installed. New pendant light fixtures will be tested and approved for the correct amount of illumination. Compact stacks platform and railing will be completed and shelves will be mounted. New lighting fixtures will be installed and tested in one part of the 1st Stop area. Preparations for closing the 1st Stop area are being completed. Express Computers
have been removed from the 1st Floor and distributed to Floors 3, 4 & 5. There will be 4 stand-up Express Computers on the floors and 4 sit-down Express Computers on the 3rd Floor for the next 3 months of renovation. A construction wall will be erected on Monday, August 27th closing off the 1st Stop area and the following week walls will be put up around the Information Desk and the Check-out stations for demolition and installation of new desks and counters. All circulation activity will take place at the new multi-purpose desk, self return units & library card computers on the right side of the Atrium. There will be no computers or material to check-out on the 1st Floor after August 27 in order to complete the renovation project.
