New System Links Patrons to More Books

Image representing Link+

San Francisco Public Library has expanded its book collection to more than 20 million items by joining the LINK+ system, a consortium of 47 California and Nevada libraries that make their collections available to member libraries. Member libraries include: Alameda County libraries, Berkeley Public Library, CSU East Bay (Hayward), Mountain View Public Library, St. Mary's College, San Francisco State, San José Public Library, Santa Clara University, Sonoma State, Sunnyvale Public Library and University of San Francisco.

Link+ is easy and simple to use. If an item is unavailable in SFPL’s online catalog, simply click on the LINK+ button and the system will automatically search for the title in the LINK+ catalog. If there are copies available in LINK+, click on the REQUEST THIS ITEM link. Then, provide a valid SFPL library card number, PIN, and your desired pick-up location.

Only items that are available can be requested. Audiovisual materials are not included in the program at this time. Available items will be shipped to SFPL within days and held 10 days for pick-up. The loan period is 21 days with one 14 day renewal. Each LINK+ transaction counts as a HOLD in your library record — Users may have up to 15 holds at any one time. There is no charge to request or borrow LINK+ materials, but regular library fines and fees are charged for delinquent materials.
