Digging Deep: Underneath San Francisco Public Library – The current Main Library rests on a Gold Rush era cemetery and the ruins of the old City Hall,
destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire. The archaeological remains pulled from the site include some of the everyday
and unusual objects that tell the story of the development of the Civic Center and The City’s earliest residents.

“This Institution is Yours”: San Francisco Public Library at 125 – This exhibition
highlights historical moments from the 125 year history of the San Francisco Public Library and features what patrons were
reading about from its founding in 1879 to the present, such as the hosting of the U.N. Conference in 1945, and a look at changing technologies.
