A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

Date: Thursday, May 01, 2003 Time: 4:00 PM Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

The meeting will be called to order.

  1. ACTIONAPPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of April 01, 2003.

  2. DISCUSSIONCOLLECTION DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT

    Presentation on and discussion of Library collection development and management by Jane Light, Director, San Jose Public Library, and Jeanne Goodrich, library consultant.

  3. DISCUSSIONCHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES REPORT

    Presentation on and discussion of the Library’s Teen Services Program and plans for Summer programs for children and youth.


  4. DISCUSSIONSTRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE

    Presentation on and discussion of the ongoing strategic planning activities.

  5. DISCUSSIONCITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
    by City Librarian Susan Hildreth

    (This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)

    The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: a budget update; a State Legislative Day report; an Urban Libraries Council grant update; a Redistribution Program report; and exhibits and programs.


  6. DISCUSSIONFRIENDS AND FOUNDATION REPORT

    (This item is to allow the Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)


  7. LABOR UNION REPORT

    (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)


  8. NEW BUSINESS

    (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)


  9. PUBLIC COMMENT

    (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)


  10. ACTIONADJOURNMENT

    (requires motion and public comment)
