
With a lifelong love of story, literature and the performing arts, Kirk Waller has been immersed in these art forms for over 20 years. He has garnered national recognition for his storytelling, including being awarded the J.J. Reneaux Emerging Artist Grant by the National Storytelling Network, receiving a Parent’s Choice Foundation GOLD award for his CD, “But Why? Stories, Music and Songs” and being a storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
Please join us for a wonderful performance by the amazing Kirk Waller, a storyteller who utilizes his musicality, physicality, emotion and spoken word to convey a wide array of African and African American Folktales, Stories and Legends. Fun for the whole family.
The Free Your Mind: A Revolution In Words Black Literary Festival is a culture-positive series of interactive events, programs and book clubs brought to you by the African American Interest Committee of the San Francisco Public Library. This Literary Festival will focus on a myriad of activities designed to engage, entertain and inform. The festival will culminate on Saturday March 2, 2013 with a day-long event at the Main Library (100 Larkin Street) featuring an author reception showcase , a genealogy lecture, a keynote address and a panel discussion.
