Peter Max Lawrence creates a fictional universe, inhabited by a myriad of beings whose physicality and powers seem to morph and change from one drawing to the next. In creating these characters, Lawrence draws from a wide array of media and themes which include anthropology, pop culture, religion and history. Taken together, his works represent a gender-queer vision of hetero-normative body ideals viewed through the lens of superhero tropes.
