Library patrons accustomed to thinking that quilts are found only on beds may be surprised to see the quilts hanging on the 5th Floor of the library. These art quilts, created by members of the group Contemporary Quilt and Fiber Artists, range from very small to very large and reveal each artist’s unique approach to thinking about the environment.
In connection with Earth Day, a program at the library on April 17th will discuss the art quilt techniques used to create these quilts. The program will be followed by an artist reception. Music will be provided by renowned Bay Area jazz musicians, including Wally Schnalle and Jeff Massanari.
This is a Green Stacks program. Support provided by the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
