NOTICE OF MEETING

 

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

 

DATE:            Thursday, April 6, 2006       

TIME:             4:00 p.m.                                           

PLACE:              Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

 

The meeting will be called to order.

 

1.         PUBLIC COMMENT                       

(This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

 

2.         TRIBUTE TO THE DEPUTY CITY LIBRARIAN                ACTION

Presentation of and discussion of and possible action to approve a resolution commending  and thanking Deputy City Librarian Paul Underwood for his dedication, hard work, and principled leadership  during his service as Deputy City Librarian and Acting San Francisco City Librarian.

3.         APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES                                         ACTION

Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Library Commission meeting of March 2, 2006.

4.         FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT                               DISCUSSION

(This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.).

 

5.         CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT by City Librarian Luis Herrera              DISCUSSION

(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)

The City Librarian will report on the following topics:  SFPL staff attendance at the Public Library Association Conference; recognition of children’s librarian Ruth Maginnis retiring after 41 years of service; recognition of Shelly Cocking, Borrower Services librarian featured in Woman’s Day Magazine; update on Main Library Fulton Street landscape project; library participation in public relations campaign as part of National Library Week; and highlights on exhibitions and programs.

 

6.         10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE                 DISCUSSION

                MAIN LIBRARY

Presentation and discussion of the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Main Library.

 

 

 

 

7.         LABOR UNION REPORT                                                               

(This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

 

8.         NEW BUSINESS                                                                                                         

(This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)

 

 

9.         ADJOURNMENT (requires motion and public comment)                    ACTION
